Here are 42 movies and TV shows from Marvel Cinematic Universe commonly known as MCU in chronological order.
Captain America: The First Avenger
The first Avenger movie is set in the 1940s when Captain America was created in the movie Captain America: The First Avenger. Although Captain America is shown waking up in 2011 his story started quite early.
Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel movie events take place in 1995 when Nick Fury still had both his eyes intact. The post credit scene was set in 2018 that marks the first appearance of Nick Fury in MCU chronologically.
Iron Man
The MCU journey started with this iconic movie Iron Man that released in 2008 but Iron Man will be the third Avenger movie chronologically. At present this is the first movie that shows the current event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2 closely follows Iron Man with a six month gap between the events in Iron Man. The movie events occur simultaneously with Thor and The Incredible Hulk movie events. These three movie events are consequently called “Fury’s Big Week” within MCU fans.

Iron Man 3 events take place approximately six months after The Avengers events. The events are shown in the movie to take place during Christmas, which would imply the events take place in December 2012. This contradicts the official MCU book timeline that tells the events of the movie took place in December 2013.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Winter Soldier set in 2014 takes place two years after the events of The Avengers when we last get to see Steve.
Guardians of the Galaxy
This movie takes place in 2014 at the same time as Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie events but in space.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie events take place after a couple of months post Guardians of the Galaxy first movie.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Age of Ultron movie events take place in 2015 a year after the fall of Hydra in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Ant-Man
Ant-Man events also take place in 2015 with flashbacks from 1989.
Captain America: Civil War
A year post the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War events occur. Hence why the movie was released in 2016.

At the end of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff goes on the run from the government and this period is shown in Black Widow movie.
Black Panther
After the end of Civil War events T’Challa returns to his homeland Wakanda leading to the events of Black Panther. So events of Black Panther and Black Widow happen closeby during Spring/Summer of 2016.
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Two months after the airport fight at the end of the Captain America: Civil War movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming takes place. So it’s in 2016.
Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange movie events start from 2016 and during mid-credits Loki and Thor appear overlapping with events from Thor: Ragnarok.
Thor: Ragnarok
Since Thor and Loki appeared in Doctor Strange mid-credits scene this means Thor: Ragnarok events take place in the beginning of 2017.
Avengers: Infinity War
Thor: Ragnarok leads us to events of Infinity War in 2018 that happened for two days.
Ant-Man and The Wasp
Ant-Man and The Wasp events take place before Infinity War but watching it first might spoil Infinity War for you.
Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame events starts after Infinity War but five years later in 2023. Endgame also includes the timelines of 2012, 2013, 1970 and 2014.
Loki Season 1
Loki’s escape in one of the timelines during the time heist in Endgame with the Tesseract. This event leads to the Time Variance Authority capturing Loki leading to the events of Loki Season 1.

WandaVision
WandaVision events take place three weeks after the events of Endgame so set in October or November of 2023. Since Halloween is shown in the show, the close bet will be October.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Although Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was released in 2021, the movie takes place after Endgame. So specific time cannot be stated but during the mid-credits scene Bruce Banner is seen wearing a sling for an injury he got during Endgame.
But the MCU timeline says the events of Sang-Chi happened in 2024.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
This show starts six months after the events of Endgame. So it takes place in early 2024.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
In the summer of 2024, Spider-Man: Far From Home events take place. After the Endgame events Peter now has been back to existence after the snap.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Spider-Man: No Way Home events start just after Far From Home so the timeline is still 2024. In the movie it’s snowing so it’s definitely December as the Rockefeller Christmas tree is seen in NYC as Peter takes final swing.
Eternals
The events of Eternal take solace in 2023 as Ajak refers to Infinity War events having taken place 5 years prior. Recent clarification from Marvel says present-day scenes are set in 2024.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness takes place a year after WndaVision and sometime after No Way Home. This will place the events sometime between 2024’s September to December months.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye happens on Christmas of 2024.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
The official timeline book of MCU has confirmed that the events of She-hulk take place at the starting of 2024 or ending of 2025.
Moon Knight
The Moon Knight events timeline has a lot of debate so we will say 2025 as its release year as when the events take place.
Secret Invasion
The vice president of Marvel Studios Production and Development division, Jonathan Schwartz confirmed that this movie takes place after She-Hulk. The events of this movie are parallel to the present-day MCU timeline.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
The events of Wankada Forever takes place in 2025 a year after T’Challa’s death that occurred in 2024.
Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel creators already mentioned the events of Ms. Marvel takes place two years after Avengers: Endgame. So the events in the movie take place in 2025.
Thor: Love and Thunder
In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor himself mentions the time the events of the movie are taking place. He says to Jane, “eight years, seven months, and six days” since he had seen her post their breakup. This references the timeline before Ragnarork that happens in 2017, so if we calculate then the current movie is set in 2025 or 2026.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania takes place in 2026 as during the 2018’s Ant-Man and The Wasp movie Cassie was 10 years old and in the Quantumania she is 18.

At the post credit scenes of Thor: Love and Thunder the Guardians make an appearance which concludes this movie takes place in 2026 during Guardians third solo team adventure.
